Our Approach
Legacy is about people, not just paperwork.
We are a values-led firm that puts people at the centre of everything we do. We provide clear, thoughtful advice in Wills, Estates, and Succession Planning, taking the time to understand not only your legal needs, but also your values, relationships, and the broader impact of your decisions.
We explain complex concepts in plain language, so you can make confident, informed choices that feel right for you and your family.
We believe that everyone deserves to be informed and empowered and feel supported to make the best decisions for them and their family. We are not afraid of difficult conversations. When they are needed, we approach them with care, honesty, and emotional intelligence; aiming to make the process empowering and constructive, while still delivering strong, practical legal outcomes.
Our Process
Stage 1
We start with an initial meeting (or series of meetings if needed) focused on listening.
During these meetings we really listen as you talk about your circumstances and concerns, so we can understand what matters to you most and identify what you are seeking to achieve.
Stage 2
We then develop a solution that aligns with your needs, values and priorities.
We provide clear, practical advice to support the approach, explain your options in plain language and work collaboratively with your advisers where needed to ensure the approach we take is thoughtful, effective and aligned.
Stage 3
Once you, and your family, are comfortable with the approach, we implement the plan with care.
Whether it is signing off on your estate plan and facilitating a family meeting, helping you deliver the transition of your succession plan or addressing the requirements of an estate, we guide you through the process, answer questions along the way and ensure everything is properly finalised so you can move forward with confidence and peace of mind.
Our Team
Jessica Spence
I grew up in the Central West of New South Wales in a farming family. I moved to Orange in 2013, and I remain an active part of our community. My background shapes the way I practise law and the way I work with clients: with a strong understanding of rural life, family connection, and the realities of planning across generations.
I am highly experienced in wills and estates, including estate planning, probate and estate administration, complex estate issues and disputed estates.
I am particularly passionate about farm succession and transition planning, and about doing things differently. Succession planning is rarely just a legal exercise, it involves family relationships, long-held expectations, and difficult conversations.
I take a thoughtful, people-first approach that looks beyond documents to help families plan transitions in a way that is workable, fair, and aligned with their values.
Clients often describe me as warm, kind, and approachable. I take the time to listen, seek to understand, hold space for emotion and to explain complex legal concepts in plain language. My aim is to create a supportive space where the people I work with feel comfortable having honest conversations and leave feeling understood, informed, and confident about what comes next.
I also find joy in supporting and mentoring others, and I genuinely enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience encouraging others to build confidence and carve their path.
